The easiest way to see if you can receive digital radio is to enter your postcode and house number in the online coverage checker. The coverage checker is kept up-to-date by Digital Radio UK and will list all of the available DAB radio stations in your location.

Reception of digital radio in Cornwall depends on your exact location, but the county is well served by transmitters carrying local and national services.

Coverage of local radio stations was improved in Cornwall in 2017 with the addition of several new transmitters.

The local radio stations available in Cornwall on DAB digital radio are BBC Cornwall, Heart Cornwall, Pirate FM, Gold, Capital UK, Hits Radio, Goldmine, Pirate 80s and Greatest Hits.

These stations are transmitted from the 12 local digital radio transmitters in the county, which are located in Bude, Caradon Hill (North-East Cornwall), Gulval, Helston, Newquay, North Hessary Tor (Devon), Bodmin, Redruth (South-West Cornwall), St Austell, St Just, St Mawes and Truro.

In the centre of Truro or St Austell you should receive the BBC’s national radio stations, like BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 6 Music. You should also receive the local radio stations listed above.

In the centre of Penzance the selection is wider with many more stations, such as Absolute 80s, Kisstory, LBC, Magic and Virgin Radio also available.
