Can I delete old stations from the list on my radio?

Prune DAB radio station
On this radio, Viking 2 is no longer available and can be removed

When digital radio stations move or stop broadcasting you can be left with surplus entries in the station list.

If you’ve ever moved a radio or returned from holiday with your personal DAB set you might also find stations which aren’t available.

This is often indicated with a question mark in front of the radio station name, and selecting the station displays a message to show it’s not available.

Prune old radio stations

Performing a retune or auto scan will sometimes remove old radio stations from the alphabetical list.

If the old radio stations persist you can take advantage of the Prune feature on many digital radios.

The Prune feature will delete those old stations. The exact approach will differ depending on your radio, but in the menu there should be a Prune option. When selected the radio will likely ask for confirmation. You may need to select ‘Yes’, then confirm again to proceed.

This should be a relatively infrequent occurrence for most digital radios. However, if you travel and often rescan in different locations, this is a good way to keep the list of radio stations free of clutter.

It isn’t possible to delete radio stations which are broadcasting from the list. To avoid scrolling through stations which you don’t listen to you can look into setting presets for your favourites.
