talkRADIO launches with Paul Ross on digital radio

New digital radio station talkRADIO has launched across the UK. Paul Ross launched the station on the Full Set Breakfast show at 6am.

The station started with a talkRADIO survey which found that the average person in Britain doesn’t believe they are in debt until they owe £45,000 and heard from listeners about debt and difficulty purchasing a home in the South East.

Paul Ross was joined by comedian Patrick Monahan and James Constantinou, from Channel 4’s Posh Pawn, to talk about the TV show and pawnbroking. The programme also discussed President Obama in Cuba and Donald Trump, the 10th anniversary of Twitter and the on-going response to Iain Duncan Smith’s resignation.

Political columnist and former LBC presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer will host every weekday morning. Comedian and writer Jon Holmes will present an afternoon show having hosted his final Radio X programme at the weekend.

Journalist and broadcaster Sam Delaney will host the drive time programme, followed by experienced sport presenter Jonny Gould at 7pm. Other presenters on the new station include Iain Lee, TV presenter Martin Roberts, Penny Smith, comedian Jake Yapp, Alexis Conran, Bob Mills and Anna Williamson.

An advertising campaign for the station starts today with digital billboards. The campaign will show advertisements featuring the opinions of presenters and listeners.

talkRADIO is one of several new digital radio stations to launch this month, including Mellow Magic, talkSPORT 2 and Magic Chilled, which also launched today. Listeners may need to retune their radios to receive the new stations.
