Naughty Boy to headline first Asian Network Live

BBC Asian Network has revealed the line-up for next month’s Asian Network Live event at the Hammersmith Apollo.

Musicians Naughty Boy, Fuse ODG, Imran Khan, Badshah and Aastha Gill will perform at the music event on 30th April. It’s the first time that the Asian Network has held the event, which will also be broadcast on digital radio.

The night will be hosted by Tommy Sandhu and will reflect “the best in Asian music as championed on the station”. The station also promises exclusive artist collaborations and UK performance debuts from Indian stars Badshah, Aastha Gill and DIVINE.

In the UK Naughty Boy rose to prominence with his collaboration on La La La with Sam Smith, later working with Beyonce. The performer was championed on BBC Asian Network before the first single, and this year featured in the Sunday Times ‘Britain’s Most Influential’ list in the music category. Fuse ODG found success with four UK top 10 singles and will perform with a surprise artist at the event.

The BBC Asian Network is available across the UK on DAB digital radio, Freeview, Freesat, online and in apps. All of the performances will be available to watch online after the event, with the whole show on BBC Red Button on Sunday 1st May from 7pm. Highlights will also be shown on BBC iPlayer.

“Asian Network Live will be a fantastic event which will showcase all that is great about the Asian music scene and its eclectic range of artists,” said Tommy Sandhu.

“We’ll have both established and up-and-coming musicians, plus three international talents making their UK performing debuts at the event.”

Many of the station’s presenters will join Tommy, including Nihal, Noreen Khan, Bobby Friction and Panjabi Hit Squad, and special guest appearances are also promised.

Tickets go on sale on Friday priced at £20.
