Moira Stuart to join Classic FM

Newsreader and radio presenter Moira Stuart is joining Classic FM.

Moira Stuart will become the classical music station’s morning news presenter from February 2019. She will be on air from 6.00am to 10.00am with Tim Lihoreau during the breakfast show, followed by the morning programme with John Suchet.

In July next year Stuart will join the weekend line-up to host Moira Stuart’s Hall of Fame Concert. From 3pm to 5pm she will celebrate the music chosen by listeners in the Classic FM Hall of Fame – a large annual survey of classical music tastes. The new programme will include recordings of “best-loved works” from archive performances as well as those who represent the classical music scene today. Classic FM says the show will contain full works with concertos and symphonies being heard in their entirety.

From January 2010 until this month Moira Stuart was the newsreader on Chris Evans’ breakfast show on BBC Radio 2. Chris Evans will host his final show on Radio 2 on Christmas Eve before moving to Virgin Radio in the new year.

Moira Stuart said: “I couldn’t be more excited and delighted to be joining the Classic FM family. It’s a wonderful opportunity to take a whole new journey, with people I really like and admire”.

On Saturday afternoons the new programme will replace Nicholas Owen, who will remain at Classic FM to present other programmes during the year.

Classic FM is available on DAB digital radio and TV, on 100-102 FM, at classicfm.com and in the Classic FM and Radioplayer apps.
