Former T4 presenter Jameela Jamil has presented her first chart show on BBC Radio 1. Jameela is the first solo female presenter of the show since it began as Pick of the Pops in the 1960’s.
The Radio 1 Official Chart show counts down the top 40 songs every Sunday from 4pm. The last hour of the show is now shown ‘in-vision’, with listeners able to see the presenter and the music videos for the top ten entries.
I am absolutely delighted and honoured. I’m fully aware that I have big shoes to fill and am so excited to get started… I’ve grown up listening to the official chart so I cannot thank Radio 1 enough for the amazing opportunity.

A new weekly competition will also give away six tickets to a lucky caller.
The show debuted on Sunday, 13th January to positive reviews. Although telling the Metro newspaper that “I thought they’d called me in to fire me” before being offered the show, a fellow radio presenter gives the new show four out of five stars in a Telegraph review.
