Connect FM becomes part of Smooth Radio

A local radio station serving East Northamptonshire and the surrounding areas has become part of Smooth Radio.

Connect FM became part of Smooth Radio East Midlands on Tuesday 1st October.

Smooth Radio plays a ‘relaxing music mix’ featuring artists like Whitney Houston, Bill Withers, Diana Ross and Stevie Wonder. The Smooth Radio breakfast show is hosted from 6am-10am by Gareth Evans. The station will continue to provide local news for the area, as well as local travel and weather.

Other presenters include Kate Garraway, Myleene Klass and Tina Hobley. Drivetime is hosted by Angie Greaves, who recently joined Smooth after hosting programmes on Magic Radio and Magic Soul.

On the Connect FM website, Lisa Stevenson, Station Director of Smooth Radio East Midlands, said: “We are passionate about our area and pride ourselves on making a difference to all our listeners and customers. We are super excited to bring Smooth on FM to Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire.”

Smooth Radio East Midlands is now available in Kettering on 107.4FM, Wellingborough on 97.2FM and in Peterborough on 106.8FM. The station is also available on DAB digital radio.

A move to add oldies station Gold to digital radio in Peterborough, Northampton and Cambridge has also been approved by media regulator Ofcom. Gold recently launched across the UK as a DAB+ station with a new breakfast show.

Radio UP joins DAB digital radio in Herts, Beds and Bucks

A new digital radio station has launched on DAB in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Radio UP plays non-stop chart music by artists like Sam Smith, Jess Glynne and Rita Ora. As well as “today’s hit music”, the station also plays music from the 2000s by artists like The Supermen Lovers and Katy Perry. The new station is primarily aimed at people aged 25-44.
