Music station Capital has revealed its new weekend line-up, including the non-stop ‘Capital Weekender with Ministry of Sound’.
Every Friday and Saturday night Capital will also go commercial free from 10pm, with the station playing re-mixes and “throwback favourites” until 6am the following morning. The station says this means the new show can “truly become the soundtrack to our listeners’ weekends”.
The new Ministry of Sound show is in addition to Martin Garrix’s existing show at 1am on a Friday night / Saturday morning and will be hosted by a variety of DJs including Coco Cole, Mike Wooller and Goldierocks.
Friday night is now started by Capital presenter and former JLS member Marvin Humes at 7pm, with JJ hosting Saturday night Capital. Both Marvin and JJ return on Sunday night after the Top 40 chart for the brand new ‘Marvin Humes’ Capital throwback hour special’ and ‘The weekend lives on with JJ’.
The digital dance and urban station Capital XTRA will also go ad free from 10pm to 6am on Friday and Saturday nights.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Global to bring ‘The Capital Weekender with Ministry of Sound’ to the airwaves across the UK,” said Lohan Presencer, CEO of Ministry of Sound.
“The blend of Ministry’s dance expertise and brand, with the scale and professionalism of the Capital network and Global team is a match made in heaven.”
Earlier this month the station announced other changes to its schedule with Roman Kemp taking over the evening show from 7pm to 10pm on weekdays. Marvin Humes now hosts a brand new evening show from 10pm.
